Modified Containers

A modified shipping container is a 20ft or 40ft shell converted into a finished unit, not left as an empty store. BWContainers builds these on standard shells: a 20ft is about 6.06 m long and a 40ft about 12.19 m long, both 2.44 m wide and 2.59 m high outside.
Modified containers here are built on 20ft and 40ft shells and supplied as finished units: site offices, change rooms, first aid rooms, switch rooms, lunchrooms, gas cylinder stores and AS2187.1-compliant explosive magazines. Modified containers are shipping containers converted for a purpose beyond storage — fitted out, cut, insulated or serviced so they work as a functional building on site.
This range includes container offices, change rooms, first aid rooms, switch rooms, magazines and other purpose-built conversions. Because the container shell is structural, transportable and weatherproof from the outset, conversions can be fabricated offsite and delivered ready to position and connect, which takes work out of the site programme.
For housing electrical equipment specifically, see our switchrooms guide.
Shell sizes. These are the standard external measurements on our shipping container dimensions guide, and they vary slightly by manufacturer. A 20ft shell is about 6.06 m long, 2.44 m wide and 2.59 m high. A 40ft shell is about 12.19 m long, with the same width and height. Where the conversion is an office and headroom matters, a high cube shell is about 2.70 m inside, which the shipping container offices page explains. Prices stay on each product tile, because the tiles change.
Delivery. Flat $200 delivery Australia-wide, about 7-10 business days. That is one national rate rather than a price that changes with your postcode. Where a site needs a crane lift rather than a standard delivery, tell us the access and we will confirm what is involved.
